Community Development Berkshire Housing provides development and consulting services to small towns to include grant writing, with over $18 million in grants secured, administation and project management. Projects have included infrastructure such as streetscape, roads, sidewalks, water, sewer and public facilities including senior center and housing rehabilitation programs, which have renovated more than 1,100 housing untis in 26 towns. Home Ownership Berkshire Housing is a CHAPA certified home ownership counseling agency and operates a homebuyer training program through Berkshire Fund, Inc. The program educates low and moderate-income families on purchasing their first home. Program participants are educated in obtaining mortgages from local lenders at below market interest rates and low down payments. Families may not have owned a home within the last three years.
